Electrotherapy
Head Lines
Electrotherapy utilizes electrical currents to block painful stimuli travelling from the nerves in your muscles and skin to your central nervous system (brain and spinal cord).
IFC. TENS, Electrical Muscle Stimulation (EMS - Russian Stim)
Electrotherapy is an umbrella term that incorporates several different integrative medicine treatments, such as: interferential current (IFC) and transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation (TENS). Electrical stimulation can also be used to strengthen a muscle following an injury by increasing the neurological contraction of the muscle: electrical muscle stimulation (EMS). Having the ability to decrease a patient’s pain is vital in managing acute/chronic conditions, and reducing recovery time.
Electrotherapy is effective for a variety of conditions, including;
- Arthritis
- Back pain
- Cutaneous pain (skin)
- Decreased swelling
- Increased local blood flow
- Muscle pain
- Muscle stimulation – prevent muscle wastage, re-education, maintain range of motion
- Neck pain
- Nerve pain (sciatica)
- Pain relief
