Dr. Dixon has a passion for sports. Throughout his career he has provided care for athletes at various levels, including: NHL, NCAA, CIS, OHL, PAN AM games and recreational levels.
Sports Injuries Specific Training
Dr. Dixon is a certified complete concussion management provider, and has the highest level of first aid (medical first responder) - certified through sports physiotherapy Canada.
Dr. Dixon has attended seminars on running biomechanics and running injuries, golf swing analysis and injury prevention and functional movement screens.
Kitchener Dutchmen (Junior B Hockey)
Dr. Dixon was the team chiropractor and co-trainer for the Kitchener Dutchmen of the Greater Ontario Junior Hockey League for 7 seasons. In his time with the Dutchmen, Dr. Dixon provided emergency medical care and treated numerous hockey related sports injuries. Dr. Dixon also has implemented baseline concussion testing and return to play protocols.
Dr. Dixon was one of a select number of healthcare providers chosen to provide therapy for some of the over 6,000 athletes, representing 41 nations who participated in the PAN AM games.
Dr. Dixon was also chosen to be involved in the 2018 Ontario Summer Games where he helped to provided first aid and treated sports injuries.
First Aid Coverage and Therapy at Other Sports Events
Dr. Dixon was also asked to provided first aid management for Creative Artist Agencies 2001 & 2002 prospects camp in Toronto. The week long camps showcased some of the top hockey prospects in North America, including the future 1st overall NHL Draft pick Jack Hughes.
Dr. Dixon has also provided first aid management and therapy for local rugby, OFSAA and CrossFit competitions.
Learn to Run 5 km
Dr. Dixon has also given numerous talks on injury prevention to learn to run groups hosted by the running room. Presentations include: injury prevention, proper nutrition, running biomechanics, proper warm-um/stretching, post run recovery supplements and what running shoes participants should use.
